The last few weeks in the run up to moving have been honestly pretty stressful. Our list of jobs to do before moving has been slowed down by consistently poor weather and Storm Amy which gave us gusts over 100mph and put the power out for three days, just one week before moving. We had to keep reordering our priorities and end up having to accept that we would just have to go with the flow! Even though we felt like the world was against us we managed to move and are now here full time. I still have to pinch myself sometimes. The views make up for the chaos every single day.
Most of the upstairs of the house is now complete (minus carpets) and we have a working water and plumbing, hurray! Switching on the water was intensely stressful as we had visions of leaking pipes or some other similar catastrophe but it turned out that James had done an amazing job and the system works. Doing our own plumbing has saved us nearly £10,000. But it did give us a huge headache in the process. However we know our plumbing system inside out now, which is great going forward, as we will be able to continue to remain self-sufficient in this aspect. And there is nothing quite like spring fed water straight from the Scottish hills you live in. And at least I found some time to have a break and makes some yummy rowan jelly.
For now we are partially living in our caravan, which is fine as we have somewhere to cook, sleep and wash in the warm. The animals have also been a huge priority of course. Fable the raven is next to the house in a simplified version of her full aviary while we finish constructing the rest of it. The ferrets are in a smaller hutch while we finish building their big fancy new ferret court, and the dogs are living out in the utility room. But everyone is happy enough and we will keep improving the setup as we go.
As always thank you so much for your constant support of our channel. Your views mean YouTube pays us a small amount for our videos and that money goes back into making our dreams come true! You are literally helping us build our home!
