One of the most beautiful sights you can see and hear in rural Scotland is just about to start, and I’m planning to take you all on an adventure to experience it with me.
The Red Deer rut is one of nature’s true spectacles, and it’s fast approaching. Soon the male deer (the stags) will begin their journey up into the hills to pursue female deer (the hinds). I’m planning to follow and film some of this incredible, seasonal ritual right here on our doorstep.
I have now invested in a dji drone for the channel, to help me get more varied shots for my videos. I took the relevant operational and flyer certification needed for this and am excited to see what it adds to the videos. This channel has always encouraged me to find new ways to be creative so this feels like a big, positive step!
At the moment I’m spending time in the hills watching the deer, and planning routes with James on where will be best to hike in order to film the rut when it begins. Often when I’m out and about the light levels are too low for much filming but it still gives me a good chance to get up close to some our wonderful wildlife.
